One hundred ninety hectares (469 acres) in a single estate, which was bought by Antonelli family in 1883, making it one of the historical wineries of the Montefalco DOCG area. In 2009 the conversion to organic farming has been completed for all our products.
The plots, clayey and rich in limestone, have various geological origins: some are deep, while others are rocky, thereby providing intense and varied nuances to the wines. The hills are pristine, surrounded by wooded areas and have an ideal microclimate for vines and olive trees.
Thirteen hectares (32 acres) are dedicated to olive groves, while around 60 (150 acres) are covered by vineyards; these crops are located on the hilltops, with southern and western exposure. We cultivate native varietals: Grechetto and Trebbiano Spoletino for the whites, while the red varietals are mainly Sangiovese and Sagrantino.
We offer guided tours, wine tastings, dinners and lunches. But also cooking lessons and truffle hunts. Soon we will also offer hospitality in a structure that we have decided to completely rethink, immersed among vineyards and olive groves.
In 2009 we completed the conversion to organic farming, which determines that we don’t use chemical fertilizers or pesticides of any kind. Having also fewer tools available against the diseases of the vine, we are obliged to have more attention during all vegetative phases, so that the vineyard is in balance and is able to build its natural defenses. We try to produce as much energy as possible from solar pannels and we reutilise all of our waste to produce organic fertilizers. Our estate is very diverse in terms of landscape and of what we grow. Along with the vineyards we also grow cereals and olive trees. Around ten years ago we started to raise free range pigs which we feed with our own organic waste, inside of our 40 hectars private wood.
Our care to sustainability is a fundamental part of the qualitative research we apply to our wines, and of the respect for our territory of San Marco.
In 2026 we have been nominated “Most Sustainable Winery in Italy” by Gambero Rosso.
